MITI Coding and Coaching Training - March 2025

.

How effectively is a clinician using Motivational Interviewing (MI)? The Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity (MITI) Version 4.2.1 behavioral coding system provides answers to this question and helps us shape feedback for improved skillfulness. This workshop provides particular and unique value over three days: offering intensive practice in coding coupled with specific application to coaching and feedback delivery.

Participants will engage in learning through well-paced, immersive and highly interactive discussions, using written materials, videos, audio recordings, exercises, and multiple practice opportunities. Participants will also have multiple opportunities to develop coaching plans for a variety of scenarios and practice delivering coding and coaching feedback. This workshop is ideal for practitioners who are interested in elevating their MI skills to a new level, for evaluating and improving one’s own work or helping others become more skillful, preparing for research projects using the MITI, and/or for supervising and coaching others effectively in MI practice.

  • I gained a better understanding of the coding process and a better understanding of the MI process viewed through the lens of a coder.

  • Ali does seem to embody the very approach she is teaching.

  • This training was above and beyond the level of excellence in terms of format. I've been to many online and in person trainings, (haven't we all?) and this one truly struck a balance between lecture and engagement. Ali's style was grounded, calming, and she consistently modeled MI in her approach, such that she was teaching even when she wasn't "teaching."
